The unit is now operated by ProMedical Vanuatu as a joint venture with Hyperbaric Health Australia.

ProMedical operates a Comex twin lock multiplace chamber rated for treatments to 50 msw. This unit was formerly operated by Hyperbaric Health Vanuatu at the Northern Districts Hospital at Luganville (Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu). The unit was recommissioned at ProMedical's facility in Port Vila (Efaté, Vanuatu) during August 2002 as a joint venture with Hyperbaric Health Australia.

The unit is situated about 15 minutes from Port Vila Airport and less than 5 minutes from Vila Central Hospital. Direct access to the site by helicopter is possible during daylight hours.

Hyperbaric treatments are performed by Vanuatu-registered Paramedics and Nurses certified as Hyperbaric Attendants. Chamber operators include Paramedics and dive professionals certified as Chamber Operators. Medical supervision is provided by the consultant Anaesthetist from Vila Central Hospital who provides services as Diving Medical Officer on a voluntary basis. Maintenance and staff training is undertaken by visiting personnel from Hyperbaric Health Australia.

The hyperbaric unit is available to treat diving illnesses on a 24-hour basis. ProMedical coordinates medevac (if required), medical assessment, liaison with insurers and activation of the hyperbaric team.
